Q: My main home is in New York but I have a second home in Aspen, Colorado. Can you obtain coverage for both?
A: Yes. PRMS is currently licensed to write business in over 30 states and can offer competitive pricing and products for your various homes, belongings and autos. We also have the ability to write coverage for your international properties.
Q: My children have moved out of the house. Will they still have coverage under my liability policy?
A: When your children move out of the house permanently they may need to purchase their own policy as most liability contracts will not cover them. We can review your contract and advise you whether or not additional coverage is needed.
Q: I was under the impression that my homeowners policy protects me if our housekeeper get injured. Is this true?
A: Not necessarily. Certain States exclude this coverage under their Homeowners policy and we are glad to review your policies and provide our recommendation on whether or not you should purchase a separate workers’ compensation policy.
Q: Is flood insurance coverage included with my homeowners policy?
A: Typically not. A Flood insurance policy is usually obtained separately. Flood insurance is available through many different insurance companies, but the federal government, through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), alone bears the risk. When purchasing flood insurance, there is a 30 day wait for this coverage to become effective unless you need this coverage for a home purchase or a refinance. We would be glad to discuss this coverage and our recommendations in more detail with you.
Q: I have an etching and a painting that I am thinking should be covered. How do I go about it and how much will it cost?
A: Fine arts coverage is very affordable and easy to schedule. Most policies contain coverage limitations that apply to valuable items such as fine art or jewelry, so we recommend that you have these items scheduled on your policy. We’d enjoy the opportunity to chat with you about this in greater detail.
